2022 Graduates The 41st graduating class of the BMLSc Program added twenty-two students to the Program alumni, bringing the total 643 graduates! Graduates’ achievements were recognized at the Pathology Day Reception held May 27.
Allie Proctor attained three academic awards: The Professor C.F.A. Culling Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science Prize for highest overall academic standing of the graduating class; the BJ Twaites Prize for Academic Excellence in the course PATH 408 Research and Career Skills; and the Donald M. McLean Prize in Medical Microbiology, for the highest standing in the course PATH 327 Bacteriology, Mycology, Virology and Parasitology. She was also recognized for Best Overall Performance in PATH 405 Seminars in Current Topics. Allie will begin the BCIT Clinical Genetics Technology program in September.
The William J. Godolphin Prize for Excellence in Critical Thinking was awarded to Claudia Singh, also recognized for Best Overall Performance in PATH 405 Seminars in Current Topics. Claudia is currently working as a research assistant in the Turvey Lab at BC Children's Hospital on the CHILD cohort study. She plans to pursue medicine in the future.
Noah Stewart received the Eugenie Phyllis and Philip Edward Reid Prize in Morphological Sciences for academic excellence in histology, histochemistry and microscopy. Noah is currently working as a research engineer with UBC's Mend the Gap team, looking at engineering approaches for injectable therapeutics following spinal cord injury. He plans to pursue graduate studies in the future.
Dr. Amanda Bradley, Dr. Sophia Park and Ms. Jennifer Xenakis were chosen by the graduating class to each receive the BMLSc Graduates’ Choice for Teaching Excellence Award.
The Reid Memorial Cup recipient is chosen by the graduating class; the award recognizes an instructor, staff member or student who made an outstanding contribution to the students’ educational experience. This year the students selected Ms. Jennifer Xenakis to receive this award.
