Welcome to Dr. Côté!

Dr. Côté is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia. She is also an Associate member of the Women’s Health Research Institte, and ua UBC Centre for Blood Research investigator.

Dr. Côté joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in 2004 where her research program is focused on mitochondrial toxicity and aging in persons living with HIV or exposed to antiretroviral agents in utero. Since 2008, she has been the lead Principal Investigator of the pan-Canadian CARMA (Children and women: AntiRetrovirals and Markers of Aging) and CARMA-PREG cohort studies. She currently co-leads the British Columbia CARMA-CHIWOS Collaboration (BCC3) cohort study.

Dr. Côté’s extensive leadership experience in our Graduate Program, which includes her roles as Associate Director of Admissions & External Affairs, Coordination and Instruction roles in our core and elective courses, and Faculty Mentor for PaSA (the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Student Association), makes her an ideal leader for our Graduate Program. Having supervised 27 graduate students herself, Dr. Côté’s track-record of guiding students to successful completion of their PhD and MSc degrees gives her invaluable insight into how to attract and train the best students, as well as advise them on how navigate graduate school on their paths to success.
