Samantha Miller, Human Resources Assistant

I was born and raised in Vancouver and consider myself very lucky because of this. I attended UBC and received my BA in History. After a few years of travelling, I went back to school at BCIT to earn my diploma in HR. I have been working at UBC since June, but have been with Pathology since September. I am excited to make a career for myself in HR. Outside of work I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, skiing, travelling, exploring, hiking, kickboxing and playing with my dog.

1. How would you describe yourself? I am an outgoing person who loves to try new things.
2. What technology innovation made the most impact on your life? Facebook messenger so I can keep in contact with my friends overseas.
3. What quality do you most admire in a leader? Respect
4. What do you value in your colleagues? Teamwork
5. What’s the most visited website on your Internet browser? The most played song on your phone? Probably Facebook and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston

8. When are you the happiest? When I am travelling

Yanny Yeung, Human Resources Manager

I am excited to be part of UBC Pathology! I have been working in my current role as an HR Manager since April 2017. Previous to that, I have worked in different sectors including engineering consulting, high tech, and chemical distribution in an HR capacity. I attended UBC and received my BComm, specializing in Human Resources Management. In my spare time, I like to make soaps, read, and catch up with my friends.

1. How would you describe yourself? I am a multitasker who enjoys keeping myself occupied.
2. What technology innovation made the most impact on your life? Whatsapp so I can keep in touch with my friends and family overseas.
3. What quality do you most admire in a leader? Integrity
4. What do you value in your colleagues? Open Communication
5. What’s the most visited website on your Internet browser? The most played song on your phone? Google (I like to Google search) and whatever is playing on Z95.3.
6. Your life would be meaningless without… Family and friends – definitely!

8. When are you the happiest? When I am on vacation, travelling to my favorite destination.
