  1. Mohosin Rana, PhD
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, The Centre for Blood Research (Kizhakkedathu Laboratory)
Dept of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, UBC

I am a Biomedical Scientist who loves to explore unexplored areas of science. I am passionate about engaging in research, particularly in soft materials engineering for Biomedical applications. I have extensive experience in organic and inorganic material synthesis, processing, characterization, and tailoring material properties for biomedical applications.

I have done my BSc and master's (MSc) in Biotechnology from Bangladesh. Later, I received the prestigious MEXT Scholarship from Japan to complete my MEng degree in Materials Science (Nanotechnology specialization). In 2018, I started my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Calgary, where my research mainly focused on developing thermoresponsive hydrogel carriers for stem cell delivery to osteoarthritis patients. After successfully finishing my Ph.D., I am currently exploring the potential of immunomodulatory polymer-based organ engineering approaches in transplant rejection treatment at the Kizhakkedathu Lab in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine department at UBC.

  1. Ann Tran, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Dept of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, UBC
    Hematopathologist, Surrey Memorial Hospital

Hello! I am a new hematopathologist currently working within the Fraser Health Authority. I was born and raised in Edmonton where I completed my undergraduate science degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences and medical degree. After exploring many specialities in medical school, returned to my lab roots and completed residency training at UBC. I enjoy all areas hematopathology and particularly like the puzzles within immunohematology. Outside of work, I enjoy rock climbing and spending time with my family and friends.

  1. Sean Ling MB BCh BAO, MSc, CIC, FRCPC
Clinical Assistant Professor, Dept of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, UBC
Medical Microbiologist and Infection Prevention and Control Physician, VGH

Born and raised in Vancouver, I moved away from home to pursue a BSc at the University of Alberta and went on to do an MSc in Experimental Medicine at the HLI at St. Paul’s Hospital with supervisors Drs. Stephan van Eeden and Jim Hogg. I moved to Dublin, Ireland for 4 years to attend medical school at RCSI. I then worked as a clinical trials coordinator at the BCCFE for just over a year then matched to the medical microbiology residency program back in Edmonton. After completing residency, I was hired as a staff microbiologist at Vancouver General Hospital in August of 2022. I’m excited to be back in Vancouver to enjoy (with my wife and 2 dogs) the endless biking routes, the diverse food, wine and coffee scene, cooking, and listening to jazz!

  1. Man Hymn Edwin Ho, MD, FRCPC
Clinical Fellow (Dermatopathology) and Locum Pathologist, Vancouver General Hospital
    Fellowship Director: Dr. Richard Crawford

I was born in Hong Kong and immigrated early in childhood to the suburbs near Toronto, Ontario where I was raised. I did my undergraduate Bachelor's degree at Queen's University, followed by Medical School and Anatomical Pathology residency at McMaster University. I am currently completing a fellowship in Dermatopathology at UBC, and will be staying in the province to work as an Anatomical Pathologist/Dermatopathologist at Fraser Health upon graduation. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, spending time with family, travelling, and trying new places to eat.

  1. Adnan Karavelic, MD FRCPC

  1. John Tyson, PhD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, UBC
Senior Scientist in Microbial Genomics, BCCDC PHL

I was born and raised in the UK before moving to Canada permanently in 2005.
