Call for Proposals Deadlines and Resources
Proposals for funding of student work experiences through UBC Vancouver’s Work Learn Program, managed by the UBC Career Centre, will be accepted from January 6 – January 27, 2025; 11:59PM PST. These proposals are for experiences taking place during the Summer 2025 session (May 1 – August 31, 2025).
In advance of submitting your Work Learn proposal, please confirm with your departmental/administrative head that you will be able to proceed with hiring a student into the proposed position, should the role be approved for funding. 
Summer 2025 Important Updates
As we prepare for the Summer 2025 cycle, we want to inform you that funding available through the Work Learn Program will be slightly reduced compared to recent funding cycles. As a result, the program is anticipating a very competitive funding environment for this summer.
To strengthen your proposal and maximize your chances of securing funding, we encourage you to:

• Thoroughly address all questions in the Proposal Submission Guide.
• Familiarize yourself with the Work Learn Scoring Rubric, which outlines criteria for writing a strong proposal.
• Review the Writing a Work Learn Proposal webinar, which provides valuable tips and strategies for crafting an exceptional submission.

• Call for funding through the Work Learn International Undergraduate Research Awards is NOW open (applications due January 29, 2025). This $6,000 subsidy supports the hiring of international undergraduate students to work full time (35h/wk.) on summer research projects at UBC-V. For any questions about the Work Learn International Undergraduate Research Awards, please contact worklearn.iura@ubc.ca.
• Call for funding through the NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) is NOW open. Application deadlines vary by Faculty/School/Department between January - March 2025, and will be updated on the website in January 2025. This $6,000 subsidy supports the hiring of domestic undergraduate students to work full time (35h/wk.) on research projects at UBC-V and UBC-O.
