2023/24 KILLAM AWARD WINNERS AT UBC

We're pleased to share that Dr. Cornelia Laule from the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Department of Radiology has been awarded the Killam Teaching Prize for 2023/2024. This prestigious prize is given annually to faculty who are nominated by students, colleagues, and alumni for their excellence in teaching.

Busra Turgu, a Pathology Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Sorensen Lab, has received the Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Award, recognizing her significant contributions as a teaching assistant. For more details, please visit the UBC academic announcements page here.

DEPARTMENT'S RESEARCH MENTORSHIP AWARDED TO DR. HOGAN

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Catherine Hogan, a full-time medical microbiologist at the BCCDC Public Health Laboratory and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at UBC, is the successful applicant for the department’s research mentorship. The latter will provide Dr. Hogan with protected time to develop her research program.

Explore how our PALM graduate students, under the guidance of Dr. David Ng at the Michael Smith Laboratories, are engaging with the community through hands-on scientific outreach. Ivy Zhang, our Department's Human Resources Manager, will be leaving Pathology and Laboratory Medicine on April 30th to assume a new role at the Vancouver Prostate Centre. We wish Ivy the very best in her new position and are deeply grateful for her dedication and service to our department.
