STRATEGIC PLANNING UPDATE FOR PATHOLOGY AND LABORATORY MEDICINE
Thank you to those who participated in the October 28th Department discussion regarding the strategic planning session and in completing the Department survey about the proposed strategic focus for the Department. The key themes that we heard were through these processes were to:
- Strengthen research across the cell-to-society continuum
- Develop the leaders of tomorrow and with continuing leadership development
- Create stronger ties with the members of the department
- Strengthen collaboration across the system provincially, nationally and internationally and
- Bolster financial position
Lead Groups
These key themes have been taken to our research, education, engagement and collaboration lead groups to identify the key strategies in these themes and the actions needed to achieve these strategies. Membership on these lead groups is comprised of members in the department who hold committee or leadership roles as well as the 23 individuals (who represent clinical faculty from five health authorities, academic faculty, trainees, emeritus faculty and staff), who responded to a general call to join one of the four lead groups.
Next Steps
The lead groups will continue to meet between January and early March to further refine their strategic priorities and specific actions that need to be taken to achieve the priorities. The lead groups may reach out to you to obtain your feedback and suggestions on these priorities. On April 4th, the Strategic Planning Steering Committee will meet to decide on the final strategic priorities and the actions needed to obtain these priorities and by the end of April, the Department will communicate these priorities to the Department.
