đź“Ł RECRUITMENT ALERT: CHAIR POSITION FOR WEEKLY ROUNDS PLANNING COMMITTEE

The UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting a research faculty member to chair the Department’s Weekly Rounds Planning Committee for a two-year term.  The Chair will work with a group of academic researchers to identify and contact potential speakers for the rounds.  The Chair's responsibility will be to ensure that an academic speaker is identified for each month, from September to June, to present to the Department.   Faculty Members who are interested in this opportunity should contact Genevieve MacMillan at 📧 genevieve.macmillan@ubc.ca.

CONGRATULATIONS ON A SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION FOR PHC’S FIRST PLANETARY HEALTH FUNDING AWARDS

Dr. Wei Xiong, Clinical Professor at UBC/St. Paul's Hospital, along with his team, has successfully secured PHC's inaugural Planetary Health Funding Award.

Project Focus:Their groundbreaking research project will delve into the examination of greenhouse emissions from digital pathology in comparison to traditional glass-slide pathology.

Funding Approval: They have been approved for a Providence Health Care Planetary Health Funding Award, providing them with an initial seed fund of up to $3,000 to kickstart their project.

Future Scope: The proposed study's scope may ultimately require up to $20,000, which includes provisions for engineering and IT consultations.

We look forward to witnessing the impact of this research on the field of planetary health and are excited about the potential for future initiatives within our department..

SEED GRANT WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT

📢 Join us for a hands-on workshop, led by Dr. Cheryl Wellington, Professor and Vice Chair Research of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia. 🏫

This dynamic session will provide a deep dive into the art of crafting competitive grant proposals. ✍️💡 The program will culminate in the awarding of two collaborative seed grants, each valued at $15,000. 🌱💰

Workshop sessions will be a blend of in-person and virtual formats, spanning two hours each, and will cover the essential elements of constructing a compelling research grant proposal. 🖥️📊
