Whether you missed a session or wish to revisit a particular topic, these recordings will ensure that you can continue to learn and grow during the break.   • Congratulations to Dr. Jacqueline Quandt and her team on being awarded the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health (DMCBH) Kickstart Grants for the year 2023 for the project "Validating ZDHHC9 as a therapeutic target for Multiple Sclerosis". These grants are designed to foster research initiatives that showcase innovative collaborations, novel directions, and advancements in technology. CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE INCREASING RISK OF LYME DISEASE IN CANADA

 

Just published by the Faculty of Medicine UBC, Dr. Muhammad Morshed, a Clinical Professor at UBC's Faculty of Medicine and an expert on Lyme disease and emerging pathogens, is discussing the increasing risk of Lyme disease in Canada. In the article, Dr. Morshed explains how climate change is contributing to the prevalence of tick-borne illnesses in Canada and provides recommendations on how individuals can protect themselves. Dr. Sutherland is a Research Associate with Canadian Blood Services (CBS) in the UBC Centre for Blood Research (CBR) and an Adjunct Professor in the UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. For this edition of “Meet the Researcher”, we had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Sutherland about his background, his research studying the activation of coagulation proteins on the surface of enveloped viruses and how it affects infection, and his interests outside the lab.
