Opportunities to Participate in Department Committees

PathDay Advisory Committee: The PathDay Advisory Committee is looking for an academic and clinical faculty member to co-chair the 2023 PathDay Advisory Committee. Supported by a staff member, the chairs will lead the advisory committee to confirm the event speakers and select the student presentations and posters. The time commitment is about 15 hours per year. If you are interested in being a co-chair for PathDay, please contact Heleena Mistry at heleena.mistry@ubc.ca.

Department Awards Committee: The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Awards Committee recommends academic and clinical faculty and staff for international, national, provincial and UBC awards, writes the nomination package for these awards and adjudicates the nominations for the PathDay awards. The Committee is looking for a staff member to help with the review and nominations of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine staff for staff awards and a faculty member with a biochemistry/chemistry background to help identify colleagues for local, national and international awards. The time commitment is about 8 to 10 hours per year. If you are interested in please contact Heleena Mistry at heleena.mistry@ubc.ca.

Request for Three Judges: We welcome three of our clinical or academic faculty members to participate in the review and selection of the 6 student summer fellowships from about 25 applications. The student summer fellowships provides medical students and undergrads to obtain laboratory experience in a faculty member’s laboratory. The application review process will take place between March 18th and March 25th.” If you are interested in please contact Genevieve MacMillan at genevieve.macmillan@pathology.ubc.ca .

  • [FoM internal selection deadline: Feb 18, 2022] The Faculty of Medicine is launching an internal selection process to nominate a single candidate to apply for the Translational Cancer Research Grant, offered by the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Self-nominations for internal competition are permitted, but nominations can be submitted to V Foundation by invitation only. 2022 Request for Applications.
  • Health Research BC Suite of 2022 Research Competitions: With the ongoing challenges posed by COVID-19, dates may be adjusted. Please check the funding page of our website regularly and follow us on Twitter for updates.

    [Applications open early spring 2022] The 2022 Health Professional-Investigator (HP-I) competition

    [Application deadline: February 28, 2022,] The Scholar program supports early career health researchers, helping them form their own research teams, train the next generation of scientists and develop world-leading research programs.

    [Application deadline: March 14, 2022] The Research Trainee program supports the best and brightest health researchers in training to enable career development and support world-class health research in BC.
